Disclaimer: I am not getting paid whatsoever or benefiting at all for blogging about the following. These are my true and honest opinions and personal photos (that either my friend or I shot) of the places and locations mentioned.
On the same day we arrived in Los Angeles, California (June 25th, 2013) we drove down to San Diego (La Jolla Cove) to watch the sunset after checking into our hotel, Best Western Plus in Laguna Beach.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE our hotel. It's not a super fancy hotel or anything, but what I loved most about the room was the fact that in the hotel, each and every single room has their built in hot tub right in the room. Absolutely cherished and loved it. We were located at the corner, ground floor room but even with that, we had a small patio outside too. Absolutely stunning. I would love to stay there again if I ever am around Laguna Beach. It was a bit pricey for a one night stay ($167.XX) for two people, queen size bed. But again, the hot tub made it worth it. We had a tiring full day ahead of us and to come back into a room and sink into the tub with massaging power water (no idea what they are called) was one of the most relaxing thing ever. My friend and I also ended the night with face masks and slept soundly through the night. Not to mention, the beach was right across the street too.
The only downfall I would have a complaint about is how dark the surrounding area is at nighttime. We traveled to La Jolla Cove and came back with a hard time trying to find our hotel. The area is very dark with barely have any street lights. Because we live in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, we are very accustomed to street lights and even a lighted street at 2am. We circled around several times before we found our way into the parking lot. Mentioning about parking, they have an underground parking ramp that is very convenient (to us) because it was right outside our door where we can easily get in and out. Other accommodations include free breakfast and wifi. Breakfast was great actually, and again the complaint my friend has (haha) is that pancakes and waffles SHOULD already be made for us. Instead of it being made already when we get there, we have to make it ourselves with their stuff that are supplied. That was a hassle so we skipped out on waiting in line to make our own pancakes/waffles. ^___^

Traveling down south was almost... how should I put it? Traffic was HORRID. Every single lane, going and coming traffic was horrible. But the drive and wait down to La Jolla Cove was well worth it. I loved the sunset and the scenery down there. We watched the sunset at a park called Ellen Browning Scripps Park.
There were lots of people who brought their families to play there. It is definitely a hot spot for couples. We spotted a lot of couples walking hand in hand. Only if...
Another amazing thing we encountered there were seals. They are not afraid of humans at all. I was literally 4 feet away from a giant seal sunbathing. I asked my friend if it was dead (LOL). It was just laying there and looked like it was not even breathing and as I got closer to it, one of its eye lids opened and stared straight at me so I screamed in shock and woke it's peaceful sunbathing session. Definitely felt a little bad. It looked at me like "Why are you screaming? I didn't even attack you..." and then it realized I was scared so it went back to sleep. LOL. That's the closest I've ever been near a seal besides at the zoo where they are behind glass frames.
The rocks on the cliffs also contained many people's marks (names, etc). We wanted to leave our marks too, but the rocks were too hard. I have no idea how they engraved their names onto there. Maybe a long time ago when the rocks were soft? Not sure.
I had an absolutely breath taking view and time during our short visit to San Diego (La Jolla Cove). Also, I'm mainly posting photos of me and rarely photos of my friend because I want to respect her. She might not like the photos I post of her so with respect, I will only post very minimal of her. Hopefully everyone understands.
And until next time,
MNT
